Earlier this year, I was asked to quote to take photographs at the International School for a case study for new lighting installed in the gym. It was a very detailed brief and the client in the US wanted to be assured that I knew about HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, using multiple images. As I use this technique regularly for property photography, I was able to send appropriate samples.

I was commissioned to take the photographs, and then was asked if I could take a few short video clips which I initially agreed to do. However once I got the brief for the video, I realised that it was beyond ny video skills, and I contacted Mark Stuart, an award winning videographer based in aberdeen.

Mark and I worked together and while I took the photographs, he filmed the interview and also “establishing shots”. The photography was able to highlight the difference between the Phillips LED lights and the Filament. The Phillips lights had a lot of glare but were a lot less effective at lighting the gym floor as you can see above.

I took light readings and they used the lux readings on the Filamento website.

The images and video were presented as a case study on their website – see below.

Mark’s video was excellent and can be viewed below. My stills highlighting the effectiveness of the Filamento lighting were added to the video.

The client was delighted and I received great feedback which is always very gratifying.

“Neil was the ultimate professional and knew his stuff. His pictures were excellent and when we needed to come back to re shoot a few scene, he was more than accommodating. He worked very well with the team in the USA and we were able to produce an amazing and persuasive case study from his pictures. Will highly recommend him and his team for any future work.”

I could not be at BNI this week and Mark was subbing for me so I used this job that we worked on together for the 60 second presentation, he was doing for me.

BNI WORKS

Last year the members of BNI Scotland North reported income in excess of £15.4 million in new business!

Globally, the 227,000 members of BNI passed over 9.8 million referrals which resulted in more than $13.6 billion in business.

One element of the meeting is that each member has 60 seconds to let the other members and visitors know about their business, and ask for a specific referral. Every week, I show one recent job, or a selection of the work done the week before.
