Genesis Autumn Ball at the Marcliffe

I was commissioned to photograph the Genesis Autumn Ball at the Marcliffe on Saturday (9th November 2019). I used 2 camera and lighting setups – a radio controlled studio light and a camera for the posed shots of the guests arriving, and another camera with on-camera flash (and appropriate diffusers) for the informal shots during the cocktail reception and for the rest of the evening.

After the arrival shots, I took informal groups before dinner. Navigating and photographing 200 + people in a small area is never easy and you have just have to be a bit “pushy” to get these photographs. One of the Genesis team asked if their 16 year old son, Alex could work with me, and he was very helpful holding the coats etc. for the arrival shots.

The function room lighting, stage and tables looked great, and I captured this before everyone was seated and also when it was full.

Once everyone was seated, I took photographs of the speakers and some shots of the guests at the tables.

At the end of dinner, two fantastic singing waiters got everyone singing along and created a great atmosphere before the dancing started. The band, Fusion, were excellent and played Scottish country dancing, rock, and dance floor filling music. The Genesis team and partners all seemed to have a great time. For the whole evening, I took over 800 photographs and 472 were on-line within 24 hours, and fortunately our client, the event organiser, was pleased with the images.

I featured this shoot at BNI.

Last year the members of BNI Scotland North reported income in excess of £15.4 million in new business!

Globally, the 227,000 members of BNI passed over 9.8 million referrals which resulted in more than $13.6 billion in business.

One element of the meeting is that each member has 60 seconds to let the other members and visitors know about their business, and ask for a specific referral. Every week, I show one recent job, or a selection of the work done the week before, and the Genesis photography was a good example of our Event photography.
