Photography for Ross Survival

Last week I was working at Ross Survival for 3 days photographing a large range of products for a new website. Dominika travelled from Poland to work with me to get all the photographs taken. There were a wide range of clothing and other personal protection equipment (ppe) and all products had to be photographed for a consistent clean look on a white background.

I set up a studio with a 10 ft seamless background and 2 radio controlled battery powered 600w studio lights. I also used addition lights and a “light tent” for items with a lot of reflections

The hardest job was dressing the mannequin.

For the final images, we removed the mannequin but for collars and hoods, Domi held up the garments so I could photograph the inside to give Lukas images to use to superimpose where the mannequin head was removed.

The shiny helmets with visors are difficult and to show the visor, Lukas had to “draw” these to see them.

For the lifejackets and harnesses, we had two re-create the collars as above, bit also there was some complex cut outs required

While onsite with a. Studio set up, I changed background and photographed all the team so they all have a good headshot for the website and other on-line uses.

The Photoshop work was extensive and another important part of the job was to link our frame numbers to the stock codes as well as having a studio set up, I also had my MacBook Pro and iPad Pro on site to records this and also to upload images to Lukas to create samples for the client.

I featured this shoot at BNI for my 60s presentation this week and used sample images and the behind the scenes shots.

BNI WORKS

Last year the members of BNI Scotland North reported income in excess of £15.4 million in new business!

Globally, the 227,000 members of BNI passed over 9.8 million referrals which resulted in more than $13.6 billion in business.

One element of the meeting is that each member has 60 seconds to let the other members and visitors know about their business, and ask for a specific referral. Every week, I show one recent job, or a selection of the work done the week before, and I am now going to feature this in a weekly blogpost too.
