We have recently taken some new photographs for the Mariner hotel on Great Western Road. I met with Mike Edwards and discussed the shots required which were:
- refurbished bedrooms
- the bar (including new seating)
- and food shots for a new menu
This is the ideal job for me as interiors and food are my favourite subjects.
The bedrooms are large, bright, and very well equipped
Mike already had a lot of photographs so only required shots of things that had changed including new seating in the bar
While photographing the new seating, I also took a shot of the other side of the bar showing the fireplace.
The food photography was next and the dishes looked excellent and covered every type of food and of course included seafood that the Atlantis restaurant is famous for.
I had the scallops on the potato and black pudding rosti with the red cabbage for my lunch and it was superb. I went back with my wife for dinner the following week, and again, the food was very excellent.
I also took a few “detail shots” that Mike may use on the website and these included the wine cellar ands tapestry reflected in port hole mirrors, intricate tiling in the wine cellar, the hand carvings on the large wooden table, and lobsters.
As we had met and planned the photography, and Mike was very well organised. all of this was achieved on a ½ day shoot. I had a set up for the food in the restaurant with lights, reflectors, and a camera with a macro lens for the food, and had a separate set of equipment for the interiors so that I could go between the 2 different types of photography required and make good use of my time, resulting in the Mariner getting 120 files for them to use for the website, social media etc. The images were delivered within 24 hours and Mike responded immediately:
They look great.
