DON’T WORRY ABOUT BEING PHOTOGENIC
Most people aren’t used to being in front of a professional camera — and you don’t need to be. We’ll guide you through the session, help with positioning when needed and keep things moving naturally.
Children can be children, pets can be pets, and nobody needs to arrive knowing how to pose. The best portraits usually happen once everyone forgets they’re having their photograph taken.

YOUR SESSION, YOUR WAY
Every family is different, so every portrait session should be too. We’ll help you prepare, but there are no complicated rules and no need to turn up knowing exactly what you want.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
We’ll discuss clothing with you before the session. Coordinating usually works better than everyone matching, and you’re welcome to bring a change of clothes.
CAN WE BRING THE CHILDREN?
Absolutely. Children aren’t expected to perform for the camera — we’ll give them time to settle in and let their personalities come through.
CAN WE BRING OUR DOG?
Yes. Pets are part of the family too. A walk beforehand plus a favourite toy or a few treats can be very helpful.
IS THERE SOMEWHERE TO GET READY?
Yes. Our studio has a changing room, illuminated mirror, hairdryer and baby changing facilities.
WHAT IF WE DON’T LIKE HAVING OUR PHOTO TAKEN?
You’re in very good company. Most people aren’t completely comfortable in front of a camera at first. We’ll guide you and keep the session relaxed.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Standard studio sessions are up to one hour, location sessions up to 1½ hours, while newborn sessions allow up to three hours so there’s plenty of time.

THE VIEWING IS PART OF THE EXPERIENCE
After your portrait session, we’ll arrange a time for you to come back to the studio and see your photographs properly on the big screen.
This is where you can compare your favourites, see different combinations and explore how selected portraits could look as framed prints, canvases and other finished products. Our specialist viewing system can even help visualise wall portraits at the correct scale.
We’ll be there to explain the options and offer advice, but there’s no pressure selling. Take a look, choose what you love and decide what works for you.

Meet Sandra, a valued member of the aberdeenphoto.com team. Sandra is married to Neil, and over the last 18 years has developed a passion for photography. Prior to joining the team full-time, Sandra worked in a senior HSE role at Baker Hughes for over 20 years. She loves working in the studio and is fantastic with families, children, and dogs. As a grandmother, mum, and dog mum to her two Miniature Schnauzers, Ollie and Stan, she has a special touch when working with children and animals. Sandra's organizational skills are second to none, making her an excellent Studio Manager. She ensures that our clients are well looked after and that our accounts are always up-to-date. Additionally, being based in the studio and office full-time, she handles passport and headshot bookings. We're fortunate to have Sandra on our team, and her dedication and expertise are highly valued at aberdeenphoto.com.
STUDIO
Our studio and offices on Wellington Road have been custom-designed to provide our clients with the best possible experience. We understand that accessibility is important, which is why our studio has easy access, including wheelchair access. We also have parking right outside our door, as well as a private car park for our clients. Our studio features a large white seamless cove, and a variety of other background options for headshots, teams (up to 12), and products. Additionally, we have a product gallery to showcase our work, and we would be delighted to invite you for a coffee, and chat about photography, and marketing.
